And it is completely up to preference which ones you use (aside from Spirit Smash and Spike being the only abilities that can break ground) Will of the Wisps not only gives you 12 different different weapon types, but also has an amazing quick switch system, that makes changing your loadout a breeze - even during fights. The combat also got a major overhaul, compared to Ori and the Blind Forest.
I played through the whole thing with a mouse and keyboard, but I hardly recommend a controller, because using the digging ability, an analog stick allows you to move freely in a 360° radius, while the keyboard restricts you to 8 directional commands, which doesn't feel nearly as smooth. It's rare to see a game that has such a deep and well orchestrated composition of movement commands - which combined feel extremely powerful, yet the game also increases the difficulty of hurdles to jump, so as to not make you feel way overpowered. The platforming is dynamic and fluid - there are so many abilities to move around with, and they all flow beautifully together.
